Field Directions

KANTOR FIELD (on Ward’s Island, next to Randall’s Island)
FROM the NORTH (going SOUTH) or from the G.W. Bridge: Take 87 SOUTH (NYS Thruway) over the Tappan Zee Bridge. 87 becomes the Major Deegan. Take this past the GW and Yankee Stadium. (If you are coming from NJ, cross GW and follow signs to 87 SOUTH, Major Deegan SOUTH.)

To the TRIBOROUGH BRIDGE:

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY, THERE ARE 2 SETS OF TOLL BOOTHS!

As you approach the toll booths, WATCH THE SIGNS. Look for Manhattan/FDR Drive/125th Street/RIGHT lanes. There is a small sign that says "MANHATTAN." You make a SHARP RIGHT turn into the toll area.

TAKE ONE OF THE EXTREME RIGHT TOLL BOOTHS

Immediately after paying the toll, bear RIGHT and follow signs for Randall’s Island/Downing Stadium/Wards Island. Go down the Exit Ramp. Once you go down the Exit ramp, there is only one way to go. You will pass a number of fields on your LEFT. Keep going. You pass the Golf range and Downing Stadium on your RIGHT. You are under the bridge trestle. Keep going (you have traveled about ½ mile so far). As you clear the bridge trestle, there is a sign “Manhattan Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Hospital”. Go STRAIGHT down this road. In ¼ mile, you see a YIELD sign and the road forks. (the hospital is RIGHT, don’t go there). BEAR LEFT. The Fields are on you LEFT side in ¼ mile.

You will recognize them because
1) they are fenced in
2) who would believe such beautiful fields exist in NYC?

Please DO NOT park on the road. Park on the gravel on the LEFT or the dirt on the RIGHT. Lock your car (it is still NYC).
